Metal Express Radio has been a leading online destination for metal music fans since the millennium, providing an interactive website that encourages user engagement through album reviews and post comments, and a free access radio station. We’re passionate about supporting metal music and connecting with our dedicated audience. We receive approximately 500 albums per year, with about 210 being featured in our Daily Album Premiere (DAP) series.

Role Overview

As an Album Reviewer, you will play a crucial role in providing our audience with insightful and engaging reviews of the latest metal and hard rock releases. You will be responsible for critically evaluating albums and writing detailed, compelling reviews that capture the essence of the music.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to and critically evaluate new metal and hard rock albums.
  • Write detailed album reviews, aiming for at least 600 words, in the third person.
  • Cover a variety of metal subgenres, demonstrating your broad knowledge of the genre.
  • Commit to producing at least one album review per week.
  • Maintain a consistent and engaging writing style.
  • Meet deadlines and adhere to editorial guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and passion for metal music across various subgenres.
  • Excellent writing and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to write detailed and engagingly in the third person.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Reliable and consistent in delivering reviews.
  • Ability to work independently.

Compensation

  • This is a volunteer position.
  • Compensation comes in the form of receiving the latest metal and hard rock releases for review, possible concert passes, front row picture taking opportunities, and the ability to communicate with musicians and industry professionals.
