Top Notch Prog Metal From Los Angeles

With the release of the band’s 2nd full length album Tales Untold, Anthea has outdone themselves and created a fantastic new collection of songs to more than make fans of the genre happy. Originally formed in 2015 as a recording project by vocalist/keyboardist Diego Valadez and drummer Peter Vasquez, Anthea quickly became more than a side gig. With the addition of guitarists Juan Pina and Marcos Mejia, and bassist Eric “EJ” Guerrero, the band has developed into a tour de force of Melodic/Symphonic/Progressive Metal with hints of Thrash thrown in for good measure.

Tales Worth Telling

The new release Tales Untold has 9 new songs and one cover, with the majority of the material being the brainchild of vocalist/keyboardist Diego Valadez, with 2 tracks co-written with Marcos Mejia. The album is self-produce by Valadez, and sounds amazing. Favorite tracks for this reviewer are “Tales Untold” and “Song for Winter”.

Final Notes

With such a strong second release, fans of Anthea have a lot to be happy about. Tales Untold has the sound of a veteran band with top notch production, and really great song writing skills. Fans of Dream Theater, Kamelot, Nightwish, and Wintersun will all find something great here, and a reason to make Anthea one more band to follow. Tales Untold is definitely worth adding to your music collection.
