( votes)WOW! What a surprise! The Hellacopters have been going for some years now, but have never been able to make a really good album. To be frankly, they have been one of many bands filed under the term: “Attitude Rock”. Attitude Rock are performed by bands that have the right look, but never have been capable of writing anything but riffs, sprinkled with no real melodies or songs… With By the grace of god, The Hellacopters delivers their masterpiece, and their past releases seem like their private joke on us all. They sure have hidden their talent pretty good…
However, this album is filled with loads of potential hit-singles, and sounds like a sure winner. Already they have been picking up loads of radio/ video-play for their first single, the title track: By the grace of god. For those of you curious about what the Hellacopters sound like, how about: fast and hard rocking, with lots of tasty honky tonk-piano, a vocalist sounding like Ace Frehley (if Ace could sing real good- check out Carry me home!), loads of old Kiss riffs and drum licks, twin guitar a la classic Lizzy , and those cool stonesy-backing vocals. Sounds good? It is!
Highlights: Carry me home (if released as a single- this band will be massive), By the grace of god, It’s good but it just ain’t right, Down on freestreet, Rainy days revisited, Go easy now.
