LAST TRIBE – Witch Dance

I found him, I found him! Danny Vaughn, I found your twin brother, from whom you were separated at birth. All right, I don’t expect Danny to read my reviews, but let me just say again that Rikard Bengtsson sounds just like Danny Vaughn, the Z Records singer/artist from Waysted and Tyketto fame, and that is indeed a great, great compliment. As far as I know, this is the Lost Tribe’s second release, the first was called “The Ritual”, and I am on my way to find that one as well. This is a real surprise, especially when I think of how sick I am of every Swedish band that tries to ride the Hammerfall bandwagon. Last Tribe enlarges their tribe without doing just that (copying their countrymen), as this is more mid-tempo hard rock/metal, not so far from mentioned Tyketto in fact, the kind of US hard rock that came out in the early nineties and was unfortunately overshadowed by those fucking goatbearded roadielooking depressive shitheads that never could play more than three chords.

The guitar riffs and rhythm section get your foot going, the songs are all good, though I miss THE real killer, and the vocals are, like you should have learned by now – very impressive. Also, may I add that the music has a progressive touch to it? And where has this Bengtsson dude been until now? He’s such a goldmine! The piano shows a little melancholic Vanden Plas inspiration here and there – another compliment – and I conclude that Frontiers have signed a band with balls and potential. Join the tribe!
