A surprisingly energetic, fast and rocking album! Yup, it’s the vocalist from Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, and he’s out on a rock’n roll trip worth checking out.

I must confess I didn’t expect much from this album, but the first listen brought my feet tapping, and my face started to produce a smile from somewhere…Huh, and this from Chris Thompson? After repeated spins, it’s still a killer record!

The album is a collaboration with Mike Slammer, and it’s a match that’s working really good. The tunes are funky, feel-good, guitar driven, and it would have been a perfect summer-album, but it’ll work wonders in the cold autumn rain too. After a while you think you’re in a late night-spot, in downtown LA., nursing a bottle of cold, quality beer. But it’s not all fun, fun fun. Won’t Lie Down also sports a couple of really good ballads, Like dust in the light and Angel, moving and tear-inducing. Beautiful.

Won’t Lie Down is one of the best releases this autumn, so why don’t y’all give it a chance?

Highlights: Angel, Can’get a hold on love, Ticket to Thailand, Like dust in the light
