BRENDAN SHANE (THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR): “Every Song On The Album Has Its Own Signature”

The Nocturnal Affair

Alternative Rock Band The Nocturnal Affair are set to release their upcoming album (Meta)morphosis early in the new year. The band’s singer Brendan Shane took the time to talk with Metal Express Radio about the band’s upcoming album, the band’s new single “Down”, working with Logan Mader on the album, and more. Check out the chat below!

Metal Express Radio: The band’s upcoming album (Meta)morphosis set to be released in early 2022, what can you tell fans about the upcoming release?

Shane: (Meta)morphosis is definitely a step in a new direction for us. It’s a record that’s helped me realize I can write whatever I feel is right in that moment.

MER: How was it working with Logan Mader and John Moyer on the album?

Shane: Working with John and Logan individually has always been really easy. They know what I’m about to say or do before I do it. We practically read each other’s thoughts. Bringing those two together took the process to a whole new level that has spoiled me to say the least.

MER: The band recently released the song “Down” off the album, do you feel like this will give fans an idea on what to expect on the full length?:

Shane: “Down” has a bit of its own personality compared to the rest of the record. I’m curious to see how fans respond to the next single. Every song on the album has it’s own signature.

MER: How would you describe your sound to anyone that’s unfamiliar with the band?

Shane: We like to call ourselves “Dark Rock.” Heavy tones with darker melodies.

MER: With the year almost over, what are some of your favorite releases of 2021?

Shane: I’ve been a sucker for Eskimo Callboy’s new stuff. They’re so much fun.

MER: What are your hopes for the band’s future?

Shane: I would love to see us expand from the US to the rest of the world.
