The Heat Wave Continues
In 2017, Thundermother founder Filippa Nässil was a guitarist without a band. That did not deter the Swedish ax-slinger. Nässil regrouped with a new version of the band, and by 2020 they bottled their collective energy into one of the best Hard Rock albums of the year.
As I stated in my review for the album; “Heat Wave is full of monster riffs, fiery solos, catchy choruses, powerful vocals, thumping bass, relatable lyrics, and slick production all set to flawless driving drum beats. “Heat Wave is Thundermother’s Back in Black.”
Even though the world shut down in 2020, Thundermother found every way possible to go out and perform for their fervent fans. If it was safe and socially distanced, the Swedish five-piece made it happen. Not only did they put on several streaming events, they performed atop of a bus to crowds below.
May 11, 2021 Thundermother presents a live streaming show from Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany entitled The Biggest Little Concert.
Heat Wave: Deluxe Edition is set to be released May 21, 2021 and it is jam packed with bonus content and comes in various configurations and colored vinyls. I had the chance to speak with Filippa Nässil ahead of its release.
