Italian Metal To The Max

From Rome, Italy comes a new band with their debut Traditional Heavy Metal album self-titled ScreaMachine. Inspired by titans like Judas Priest, Metallica, Iced Earth, Savatage, and Accept, these metal maniacs are in love with that legendary 80’s Heavy Metal sound. The band was formed when bassist Francesco Bucci (Stormlord) had the idea to create a modern Metal band that honored the metal legends in style, but brought modern production values and attitude. Joining Bucci is Valerio “The Brave” Caricchio on lead vocals, Alex Mele and Paolo Campitelli on guitars and Alfonso “Fo” Corace on the drums.

Scream For Me

ScreaMachine are more than successful in creating an album of  Traditional Heavy Metal, and they have brought along more than a few friends to the party. The fretless bass hero Steve Di Giorgio (Testament, Death, Iced Earth, Spirits Of Fire) and singer Herbie Langhans (Firewind, Avantasia, Sonic Haven) are featured in the epic hymn “Wisdom Of The Ages”. If that’s not enough, add four of the best Italian guitar players in Simone Mularoni (DGM), Massimiliano Pagliuso (Novembre), Andrea Angelini (Stormlord), and Francesco Mattei (Noveria) shredding on four more songs.

Final Notes

ScreaMachine is a great collection of 10 songs here, and have delivered on the promise of Old School Metal with a modern twist. The songs are catchy, in your face and down-right fun to listen to. The production is tight, and the pace keeps your head banging from start to finish. The guitar work is just flashy enough, and the vocals cover a range of styles from King Diamond to Cinderella. If their debut album is an indication of what’s to come, then there is a bright future ahead for ScreaMachine. Any self-respecting metal head will find something to like here, so add it to your collection.
