Ohio Rockers Begin a New Chapter
From the ashes of Bobaflex has risen The Lonely Ones. Founder and vocalist Shaun McCoy stepped away from Bobflex after a series of concerts last year. He fronted the band for over 20 years. The rest of Bobaflex decided to carry on without him. The band changed their name to The Lonely Ones and is now lead by Shaun’s brother Marty McCoy. They have released several singles over the last few months, including a cover of Queen’s “Flash” and “Hero” from the 1980 movie Flash Gordon. I had the chance to speak with The Lonely Ones guitarist/vocalist Marty McCoy to find out how Bobaflex got to this point.
Highlights include:
- Why Bobaflex became The Lonely Ones
- The Lonely One’s 2020 singles
- Is a full album on the way
- How Brian May (Queen) felt about their cover of “Flash”
- How Sam J. Jones (Flash Gordon) felt about it
- Playing the first Gigantour
- Why Marty is hesitant to play another pot festival
- How the collapse of TVT Records effected Bobaflex
- How a Tom Petty interview helped Bobaflex get out of their contract
- How the Bobaflex name closed more doors than they opened
- Why Lars Ulrich (Metallica) is always right
- … and much, much more!
The Lonely Ones are:
