Bassist, Author, Producer, Record Executive, Roaster/Barista, and Grammy Award Winner
You may know him as the bassist and co-founder of Thrash Metal legends Megadeth, but David Ellefson is quite the versatile musician and entrepreneur. He has his own coffee brand Ellefson Coffee Co. David has written four books, with his first novel on the way. Together with Thom Hazeart he heads up a movie production company (Ellefson Films) and a record label (Ellefson Music Productions). EMP recently revived the Combat Records label, the very same one Megadeth debuted on in 1985.
Under the moniker Ellefson, David & Thom have released their latest album No Cover [review]. A double album of 70s and 80s Hard Rock and Glam covers. Ellefson called up a bunch of their brothers and sisters in Heavy Metal to make the album extra special. I had the chance to talk to David Ellefson about his latest release, the influences he covers, his other business ventures, and how he feels about being constantly reminded that the No Cover album bears resemblance to another famous Rock album.
Ellefson is:
David Ellefson – Bass
Thom Hazaert – Vocals
Andy Martongelli – Guitar
Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal – Guitar
