Joe Bouchard is a founding member of the legendary Blue Öyster Cult. From their self-titled album in 1972 to their 1988 release Imaginos, Bouchard was laying down the deep bass grooves (and some lead vocals). Joe penned the lead single “Astronomy” from his final album with BÖC. The song was later covered by Metallica ten years later on their Garage Inc. album.
Since leaving Blue Öyster Cult, Bouchard has been a part of many band projects and has released six solo album. His sixth and latest album is Strange Legends. Joe enlisted Bryan Adams drummer Mickey Curry to help with production, as well as lay down a few drum tracks. Metal Express Radio had the chance to speak with Joe about his new album, his new record label, and his favorite memories from his time with Blue Öyster Cult.
Strange Legends (2020) Mini Review
For a man that has spent over half a century making music, Joe Bouchard shows no signs of slowing down on Strange Legends. From the bluesy, hard-charging lead single “Forget About Love” to the endearing ballad “Strangely In Love,” Bouchard demonstrates his flair for crafting simple yet enjoyable Rock and Roll music. Even the instrumental “Racin’ Thru the Desert” is a fun ride. There’s sort of a film noir quality to “She’s a Legend,” and “Walk of Fame” is sure to have you tapping along to the beat. Strange Legends will catch you by surprise with it Classic Rock spirit and easy to sing along with choruses. 9/10 – – George Dionne
