( vote)Ritual is the 13th studio album from NWOBHM band Tygers Of Pan Tang. Formed in 1978, Tygers had a litany of members and reformations, with Ritual being the second album to feature the current line-up, and to be released on Denmark’s Mighty Music Records label. The band believes this to be their strongest material since their breakout record, 1981’s Spellbound. Founding guitarist Robb Weir, along with current vocalist Jacopo Meille, bassist Gavin Gray, drummer Craig Ellis, and most recent addition, guitarist Micky Crystal could even see some fans thinking this was their strongest work to date.
Ritual is a solid album. Well produced, with big NWOBHM riffs, tight vocal harmonies, good hooks, and strong material. Ritual was specifically named independently from the track names so that the listener would not be lead to one song in particular. Each song has its own merits, and there is no filler on the record. “White Lines” is to be the first single released, and it’s very good. Big riffs, big hooks, killer solos. Tygers Of Pan Tang fans will be very pleased with this latest offering. NWOBHM fans, Heavy Metal fans, and Judas Priest fans would do well to check out Ritual.
