( votes)Margin Of Error is the third record from Denmark’s Melodic Metal Band Meridian. It is the first album to feature new guitarist and producer Marco Angioni at the recording helm, and a solid line up of members, including Lars Marker on vocals, Martin J Anderson, guitars, Peter Bruun on bass, and Klaus Agerbo on drums. Margin Of Error contains a breadth of material within the Melodic Metal range, from the Melodic Rock style of “Second Best” to some Thrash Metal influence on “Disconnect”, which features a special guest solo from guitarist Steve Smyth (Nevermore, Testament, One Machine). There are even some Progressive elements here and there, as in the title track “Margin Of Error”.
Overall, Margin Of Error is a good sounding record, with Marker’s voice loud and proud up front, and his range and timbre are excellent. The lead guitars are too loud, and in many cases sound overly processed and harsh. The playing itself is solid, but sonically brash. The rest of the instrumentation is solid, well executed, and mixed well. Each of the songs has its merits, and each is worth a listen, having their own personality within the confines of the Melodic Metal genre.
