( votes)Temple Of Lies is the newest release from German Rock band Bonfire. Bonfire was founded by original guitarist Hans Ziller in 1972, then called Cacumen. The band adopted the moniker Bonfire in 1986, and at their prime, was considered one of Germany’s most internationally acclaimed acts, alongside Scorpions and Accept.
Temple Of Lies is the first record to feature new vocalist Alexx Stahl, along with Frank Pane, guitar; Ronnie Parkes, bass; and Tim Breideband, drums rounding out the current line up. Temple Of Lies kicks off with “In The Beginning”, an introduction track less than 2 minutes long, which seems to be done on nearly every new record these days. A spoken track with ominous music that quickly elevates into a shred guitar odyssey that quickly dispels the notion that Bonfire might be an 80s band seeking to reclaim former glory. Excellent production, well written songs, strong performances, and a modern polish give this record a sound that both Hair Metal and Modern Rock fans can enjoy. Nothing about Temple Of Lies gives the listener the impression that this band has existed for 46 years. Strong rock record, definitely worth a listen.
