( vote)Further, the new release from San Fransisco based Psychedelic Rock act Revolushn, is a combination of jam-style rock exploration and seemingly LSD influenced, yet incredibly catchy and well structured, songwriting.
The album benefits immensely from the production skills of Aaron Conner, although that’s not to say that the other aspects of the album don’t hold up well. The guitar work to be found here is impressive and is reminiscent of Paul Gilbert on his more eclectic solo albums, but without the shred aspect. Without fail, the drum sounds, bass and guitar tones, and multi-layered vocal delivery comes through clear and crisp. Fans of Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Clash, ELO, Grateful Dead, and the more experimental 70s acts will find a lot to love with Revolushn.
Lyrical themes range from drugs to poetic ramblings that sound like beat poetry put to Rock music. The overall vibe is very late 60s to early 70s but with modern sensibilities and a carefree attitude that isn’t concerned with whether or not anyone else is playing similar music.
One look at Revolushn’s new video for “Dog Gets High” says a lot about the band’s mentality towards life; it’s one that we can all get behind. Other standout tracks on the album are “Dinosaurs” and “Man Who Knew Everything”. While Further may not be to everyone’s taste, the overall quality and enthusiasm of the band is hard to resist.
