Winger welcomes Paul Taylor, keyboardist/guitarist and original member, back to the band after twelve years and announces a 26 year original line up reunion. It was a special evening for fans in Prior Lake, Minnesota and the band as well judging by the smiles and laughter on stage and as evidenced by their inspired performance.
Winger showcases Taylor’s talent on keyboards and guitar. His return is transformative. It harkens the vintage Winger sound missing from recent iterations of Winger. Without Taylor, Winger is a different band on stage; stripped down songs focusing on elemental, monster groove riffs. The result is a fantastic and crushingly heavy take on classic Winger cuts. With the return of Taylor’s keyboards, classic Winger tunes, like “Headed For A Heartbreak”, are easily recognized and appreciated. Taylor’s talent on guitar solos and synchronized riffing with lead guitarist, Reb Beach, display his versatility.
Is there a vocalist who annunciates the word “yeah” with more passion and lustiness than Kip Winger?! In fist-pumping fashion, Kip proves he still has it in a powerful rendition of “Time To Surrender”. The 70-minute set also features “Easy Come, Easy Go” and a healthy dose from their debut album Winger. The set opens with the rousing “Midnight Driver Of A Love Machine” and closes with “Seventeen”, which Kip cleverly updates every year to appreciative laughter from the crowd. This year she’s only “Forty Seven”.
