( votes)Argentinian metallers Helker are back with their 2nd English language studio album and 5th overall. Firesoul is a fist-pumping, headbanging, beer-can-crushing, 12 track slice of Melodic Power Metal. Fans of Painkiller (the Priest album), Primal Fear, and the later works of Symphony X will enjoy the gritty yet soaring vocal delivery of Diego Valdez. The guitar work is tight and, although a bit too harsh at times, the main driver of the songs, making for thick, memorable riffs and rhythms.
With speedy tracks like “For All The Eternity”, “Firesoul” and “Stay Away”, this release has plenty of energy and bullet-to-your-brain, balls-out power, yet the slower tracks like “Empty Room” and “Leaving Out The Ashes” prove that Helker is not a typical one-speed-fits-all Power Metal act. While not all of the songs stick with you, there is still enough well-presented material here to fill out a solid set. As a regular touring act on the Euro circuit, Firesoul will no doubt please fans of a great, True Metal live show.
Highlights include “Stay Away” and “Empty Room”.
