( vote)Thrash most brutal is the name of the game on Kreator’s 14th studio album Gods Of Violence. Longtime fans of the band and Thrash in general will be pleased with the level of precision musicianship and unapologetic lyrical passion to be found here. Themes ranging from Nazi medical experiments gone awry to the warm, loving power of Satan fill this 11 track disc of crushing sonic mayhem. Unlike many other veteran Thrash bands from the same era, Kreator has managed to maintain their high energy levels and somewhat avoided the genre’s typical artistic pitfalls like ponderous concept or acoustic albums. All that being said, if you’re not a dedicated Thrash fan, there’s not much here for you and Gods Of Violence may become tiresome after the initial listen.
With impressive production and an even more impressive marketing push with no less than 4 full music videos, this album will probably serve Kreator well, even if it doesn’t go down in history as their most inspired work. Creativity aside, it’s still a good feeling that after 14 studio releases, Kreator can churn out a satisfyingly brutal album like this.
Highlights include, “Gods Of Violence”, “Totalitarian Terror” and “Fallen Brother”.
