( votes)Nightmare is quickly back on track after losing a couple of members. The superb vocal strength of Maggy Luyten replaces long-time singer Jo Amore; Olivier Casula steps in on drums. The result is an album with equal vigor but a pivoted approach. The Power Metal isn’t as present and is replaced with a sound more Melodic.
Dead Sun‘s cover art of a looming celestial implosion alludes to the astral themes within. Agony and remorse—as well as a resulting restlessness—define this record. “Indifference” is one of the best tracks with a strong chorus and undertones of torment. Despite the sadness, there is nothing cheesy on this album and certainly no Emo to be heard. They are able to take personal grief and belt it out in the violent discharge of a self-induced exorcism. Isn’t that Heavy Metal in a nutshell?
