With their first full-length album, Return Of The Warlord, Rising Steel have expertly blended traditional New Wave Of British Heavy Metal with large doses of Thrash and Power Metal. The resulting combination is a formula that any true Metalhead will enjoy. Complete with an axe and sword-wielding metal knight on the cover, Return Of The Warlord contains 10 tracks of ear pounding Metal carnage.

While the production of the album sometimes comes across a bit too raw by modern standards, particularly in the vocal mix, it’s not so much that it detracts from the songs, which are strong and memorable. To find an album of this strength so early in a band’s discography is hopefully a sign that these French Metallers are here to stay and raise their steel fists for years to come.
