( votes)Considering how active he still seems to be on the various circuits, it’s hard to believe it’s been upwards of a decade since “The Voice Of Rock”, Glenn Hughes, has released a solo album. Never one to be short on self-immersed creativity, Hughes latest offering is entitled Resonate, comprised of 11 tracks of quality Soulfully Funky Hard Rockin’ Blues.
Although a well-respected and influential vocalist, Hughes has been criticized at times for “over-selling” or perhaps injecting “too much” emotion within his delivery at the mic, which, of course, can make an otherwise great piece of musical workmanship sound cheesy and the messages rather unbelievable. By and large this noted Hughes flaw isn’t nearly as recognizable within Resonate — except for maybe a small handful of tracks, Hughes has created well-rounded, original Hard Rock music with plenty of emotive depth that pairs quite well with the lyrics and vocal delivery.
Hughes shows he still has “the music” inside of him, and that aggressive charm resonates clearly … perhaps now more than ever.
