( votes)Melodic Metal with plenty of speed and power sums up Dethonator’s self-titled album, which incorporates the polished singing of vocalist/guitarist Tris with growls from Adz, who plays exceptional bass on this record. There are slight dips in mood at points, but no real ballads. “Many Have Fallen” is their most catchy and melodic piece, and the rest of the songs are distinctive and enjoyable. This album will appeal to those who love good riffs, good lyrics, and solid rhythm. The band sounds a little softer than the name Dethonator suggests, but you still get some heavy and fast music.
This record is actually a remastering of Dethonator’s self-titled album from 2010. There is some improvement in sound quality, but it isn’t drastic, and there are no bonus tracks or new material. Some instruments may have been re-recorded, but you can layer the old tracks over the new and they are an exact match, so why the band felt the need to re-issue this album is a debate for another time.
