Armed with a new label and Metal mixing veteran Bill Metoyer, Helstar’s new release Vampiro is an ear-pleasing mixture of old school headbanging and modern, face-melting production.

With a line-up consisting of mostly long time members, notably vocalist James Rivera and guitarist Larry Barragan, Helstar know exactly what their fans want and precisely how to deliver their trademark sound. With fitting, albeit expected lyrical themes of vampires, witches, werewolves and evil priests, Vampiro delivers a solid chunk of Thrash Metal meets Power Metal that long time fans will enjoy, while still being accessible enough to attract the younger generation of Thrash addicts. Helstar have stayed true to their sound and message over the years and have resisted the urge to follow in the footsteps of more commercial groups by watering down their metalhead attitude.

Highlights include the album opener, “Awaken Into Darkness”,  “To Their Death Beds They Fell” and “Repent In Fire”.
