Rizon hails from Switzerland, and Power Plant is their 4th studio release. The band generally plays a form of Power Metal with light symphonics (keys), but what makes them unique are the vocal harmonies and trade-offs at the microphone between frontwoman Rahel Fischer and long-time frontman Matthais Gotz. The production was handled by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat), meaning the sound quality is top notch … and there’s nothing wrong or subpar with Rizon’s music. The glaring “doesn’t fit” weakness within Power Plant is indeed those aforementioned vocal harmonies – they’re awkward at best and fail to blend together in a pleasing way.
