( vote)A band with a history. Unfortunately with one that is solidly rooted in the underground as even after six albums their new release is again an independent production financed by the band members themselves. But everybody knows that this fact does not provide any leads as to what the album may deliver, and as it is not uncommon these days SACRED OATH manages to bring again an album that does not have to hide behind many contemporary releases published by labels great and small. Ravensong features ten traditional Metal tracks with a strong vocal performance of Rob Thorne of which the oriental touch in “Necrodancer” and the album closer “Brighter Than The Sun” stand out slightly.
A point of criticism must be voiced for the fact that all songs remain firmly in mid tempo or slower, a bit of extra energy in form of a faster song would probably do Ravensong a favour. But nonetheless it is a very solid release of a band that deserves more attention than they are currently getting.
