Rygel hails from Brazil and was formed in 2000. It seems since 2000 that the chances loom heavily that any band spawned out of Brazil and other South American countries play precision-based Power Metal a la Angra. Not the case with Rygel, who plays a blend of Thrash, Death, and Modern Metal … nearly the polar opposite of their geographical contemporaries.

Rygel’s latest is entitled Revolution, but unfortunately there’s nothing particularly revolutionary contained within. If you like any of the above subgenre’s Rygel is worth checking out, but chances are you’re going to find their material run of the mill.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
