In Vain hails from Norway, and their fourth release is entitled The Little Things That Matter, which interestingly enough sounds like something snatched out of Alice Cooper’s archives.

Anyway, In Vain plays an interesting mix of Power, Thrash, and Progressive Metal, laced with Death Metal elements. Musically, these Norwegians have it snuggly fit together … the production is tight and the virtuosity is clearly apparent.

However, vocally, the band misses the mark. There’s too much exuberance in Frigstad’s delivery; in most of the tracks he shifts too much of the focus onto himself and away from the other talented musicians.
