Soldierfield is a Traditional/Melodic Metal band out of the U.K., and Catharsis is their debut full length release. Soldierfield has it “all” … solid musicianship, catchy rhythms and song structures, and a very capable frontman in Leigh Oates. Oates heads up most songs with impressive melodies, and delivers a “passionate” performance from start to end (perhaps a bit too passionate at certain junctures). The album starts out incredibly strong with “The Light” and “Beautiful Lie,” both showing greatness in composition. A few of the album’s remaining tracks don’t show that same energy, but don’t mask this band’s accomplishments and potential.

Dan is a former partner at Metal Express Radio, and also served as a reviewer, photographer and interviewer on occasions. Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
