( vote)Multi-platinum Christian Glamsters Stryper are still fighting the good fight with their latest release No More Hell To Pay. If you’re a Metalhead who viewed Stryper as cheesy or opportunistic in the past (if not annoying), you’re not alone, but make no mistake about the band in 2013 because this new release ROCKS! The drumplay provided by Robert Sweet is fat and will test the druthers of any subwoofer known to man (or God), and the hooks and leads provided by Michael Sweet and Oz Fox come through much more in the Traditional Metal vein than Glam Metal.’
There are 11 original tracks on No More Hell To Pay along with a cover of “Jesus Is Alright” (made famous by the Doobie Brothers), and all of them are top shelf performances that (believe it or not) have a “dark” feel to them, even though the messages delivered continue to be rooted in deep Christian beliefs. Kudos go to Stryper for continuing to evolve and for not being afraid to let their hair down, so to speak … a must buy for Traditional, Melodic, and Glam Metal fans in 2013.
