Dark Design is a USA-based 5-piece band, and their debut full-length album is cleverly entitled Prey For The Future. With such a play on words, you’d expect Dark Design to be a Progressive Metal band, and in some respects they are, but they also incorporate some elements of Traditional, Power, and Thrash Metal into their soundscape. Vocalist Andrew Bertrand teeters between being a melodic vocalist vs. something more menacing throughout this release, perhaps most similar to Michael Romeo from Symphony X. Uncompromised clean vocals would better blend into Dark Design’s musical approach, but an interesting album to check out nonetheless.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
