( votes)Underride are a Seattle-based rock band. Sure, there’s just a *hint* of grunge in their tone, but really the band just plain rocks. Their CD, One of US, is actually quite extraordinary.
For a group of musicians that like 80s hair bands, Underride are not 100% Glam like Enuff Z’ Nuff or Poison. Underride are much more Buckcherry meets Alice in Chains. This doesn’t mean One of US isn’t filled with party rock. It is.
Track listing for One of Us:
- Side By Side
- Candy Girl
- On The Radio
- She Gets Paid
- Throw It Away
- Upstart Coming Up
- Kink Into My Heart
- Road To Nowhere
- My Little Hell
- Lights Off Baby
- Shotgun Breakdown
- Riot Stick
- We Don’t Want What We Want
- No Means No
Key tracks here are “She Gets Paid,” “Candy Girl” and especially “Lights Off Baby.” Each song has a gritty, sleazy quality. There’s also something else going on…that’s a little hard to describe. Basically, the songs really work – and create a convincing effort.
It’s hard to believe Underride has been around for something like seven years. During that time, the band has released four other discs. Underride consider themselves “Seattle’s Kings of Camaro Rock.” That seems like a great way to explain a party rock band living amongst the ashes of a city that once nearly killed Glam Metal. Ah, Glam rose again – and bands like Underride prove that timeless fun and Rock N’ Roll go hand-in-hand.
So what are you waiting for? Get on iTunes and buy the new Underride album One of Us. Check out some tracks on the band’s Myspace page.
For the record, Underride are unsigned – so if you have a label, please consider picking up this band! There’s too much talent here to waste.
