Canadian hard rock band Harem Scarem released their self-titled debut album in 1991, during the rise and popularity of grunge rock. Two years later, they put out their biggest album to date, Mood Swings (1993). While they maintained success outside of their home country, especially in Japan, Harem Scarem struggled with living up to the expectations set by the aforementioned record and an identity crisis. Remember when they changed their name to “Rubber” in 1999? After going on hiatus in 2008, the band reunited in 2013 to re-record their Mood Swings album (Mood Swings II), to mark its 20th anniversary, and have kept the party going ever since. Having experimented with different flavors of music such as pop and metal, Harem Scarem are currently at a point where they just want to make memorable Harem Scarem tunes filled with big melodies and catchy choruses.
Lana Teramae of Metal Express Radio had a chat with lead vocalist Harry Hess from Harem Scarem about their brand new studio album, Chasing Euphoria, which will be released on April 25, 2025 through Frontiers Music Srl. They also talked about how he’s kept his voice in great shape over time, what he’d be doing career-wise if he weren’t in the music business, sending positive vibes through music, and more!
