Texas Metal-core band Gore are set to release a new EP entitled A Bud That Never Blooms on October 24th. The band’s guitarist Alex Reyes took the time to talk with Metal Express Radio about the upcoming EP, being featured in Revolver Magazine, his favorite releases of 2024, and more. Metal Express Radio: Your band, Gore are set to release their new EP entitled A Bud That Never Blooms on October 24th, what can you tell everyone about the upcoming release?
Reyes: What I can say is that we are gonna have something for everyone. It’s a combination of different influences and the next song is not like the previous. It’s to show the range of the emotional Gore that we all have within us but in musical form.
MER: Do you feel like this EP gives fans an idea on what to expect from your next full album?
Reyes: I think this EP is definitely giving our fans a glimpse into what a future album could sound like and because of that I hope it makes the fans even more excited for the next releases.
MER: You recently released three singles from the EP, how did it come about having these being the first songs released?
Reyes: When we first started to strategize the releases for these songs we all wanted to come out literally swinging. ‘Pray’ was, I believed to be, the song everyone agreed on being the first single. Soon after, we wanted to go with a more tranquil yet powerful song which was ‘Doomsday’, we wanted to show our range as a band and that song does that for us. ‘Babylon’ is a favorite of the bands and we wanted this to be the third song we released because it’s an absolute MONSTER of a song. That’s how we came about releasing these songs first.
MER: What do you see as plans for you and your band after the release of the EP?
Reyes: I see us playing more shows and connecting with our fans at the shows we play. I also see us working on more music for everyone to enjoy.
MER: Is there anyone that you hope to tour with and why?
Reyes: Ooo Yes! There are a whole bunch of bands that I would love for us to tour with. Loath, Bad Omens, Bilmuri, Wage War, Architects just to name a few. The reason why is because these bands have influenced us so much over the years and it would just be a dream come true to share the stage with these giants.Also, i think we would fit very well in a bill with these bands.
MER: You were recently included in Revolver Magazine’s “top 5 bad ass band’s you need to know”, how was it getting that recognition?
Reyes: Talk about a scratch off the ol’ bucket list! I know I’m speaking for myself here but I know that me and the rest of the band felt ecstatic being featured on Revolver Magazine.
MER: You’ve also received praise from big names in the industry such as Papa Roach, Motionless In White, and Flyleaf, how is it getting all this positive feedback while you’re still fairly new?
Reyes: It’s amazing receiving such acclaim from artists who have been in the industry for years. It makes us feel like we do belong here and that we are on the right path. The feeling is indescribable.
MER: For anyone that’s unfamiliar with your band, how would you describe your sound?
Reyes: I would describe our sound as visceral, aggressive, emotional, and sweet. Think Billie Eilish meets Sleep Token.
MER: What are your hopes for your band’s future?
Reyes: I hope that we reach more people through our music as we continue on this journey. I hope that we get to play on more tours and see the world and our fans in person. Ultimately, I want us to continue making music that speaks to people and makes our fans feel.
MER: What have been some of your favorite releases of 2024?
Reyes: One release that has been my favorite this year is Bilmuri’s New Album, American MotorSports. I’ve literally had this album on repeat since it came out. Some of the best songwriting I’ve heard in a long time.
