Up and coming UK Nu-Metal outfit Profiler are set to release their debut album entitled A Digital Nowhere on February 16th. Profiler’s vocalist/guitarist Mike Evans took the time to talk with Metal Express Radio about their debut album, the formation of the band, their upcoming tour with Vended and The Gloom, and more. Metal Express Radio: Your band, Profiler are set to release their debut album entitled A Digital Nowhere on February 16th, what can you tell fans about the upcoming release?
Evans: We are excited to share with our fans a versatile record that deepens the level of the Profiler sound. This album is more conceptual than our previous work and explores the themes of spirituality, pop culture, and philosophy. We are very grateful to have recorded it and we feel very privileged to share it with the world.
MER: How was it writing and recording as a band for your first full length album?
Evans: I would say the experience of writing it was intense because it was during the Covid-19 lockdown, however this experience allowed for an in depth creative outlet in which to express the anxiety of the global pandemic. This allowed the transition into the studio to be an overwhelming relief. Due to this being such a hard time for the world, as a band, we just appreciate having a professionally recorded album, supported by the team of SharpTone records. Being in the studio is what we always dreamed of as a band and creating our full length is the highlight of our career as musicians so far.
MER: How did the formation of the band come about?
Evans: I was recording demos while studying in university, influenced by the sound of the late 90’s and early 00’s. I used these demos to scout for talent and it allowed me to audition members, which created the original 3 piece lineup. From here I continued to record demos and practice with the band members in a live setting. Through trial and error, the sound of our previous release was created.
MER: Later this year, you’ll be touring with Vended and The Gloom In The Corner, what are your expectations on the upcoming tour?
Evans: As a band we have never toured outside of the UK. We are under no delusion that it would be hard work but we are so excited to showcase our live set for the first time on a professional tour. We can’t wait to experience different cultures and meet new people and, hopefully, gain new fans and friends.
MER: What do you see as plans for your band after the tour with Vended?
Evans: Our main priority is to get out and play as many live shows as possible. As well as this, we are going to start writing our second album. We are always trying to become better musicians and strive for perfection.
MER: How would you describe your sound to anyone unfamiliar with the band?
Evans: We would describe it as a blend of 00’s nu- metal, grunge and modern nu-metal core. It creates a diversity with a familiar sound.
MER: Who do you hope to tour with and why?
Evans: We would love to tour with the likes of Incubus and Deftones, as we feel we would fit very well with bands that have inspired us to do what we do.
MER: How would you describe the music scene in the UK?
Evans: There is an exciting new wave of authentic and original bands such as StaticDress and DonBroco which are showing the creative talent of our nation and continue to inspire people worldwide. Some of the biggest acts in the world such as Bring Me The Horizon originate from here, so we can only hope to follow in the footsteps of our British talent.
MER: Where are you mostly looking forward to playing live and why?
Evans: Touring Australia, the USA and Japan would be the top of our list after Europe, because we believe our music will go down a storm in these countries.
MER: What are your hopes for your band’s future?
Evans: As I explained previously, we would do anything possible to reach the heights of bands like Silverchair, Linkin Park and have a worldwide dedicated fan base. We as a group just want to play live, meet new people, and express our sound with the the world.
