SACRED OUTCRY – Towers Of Gold

Sacred Outcry is one of these bands, that perhaps have not achieved international success yet, but whose work is so promising that they clearly deserve a place at the top! Hailing from Greece, Towers Of Gold is the second album of this Epic Power Metal band, even though the band has existed since 1998. It follows Damned For All Time (2020).

After numerous changes, the band reached a perfect alchemy with Towers Of Gold‘s lineup. George Apalodimas (Bass), the founding member, has gathered around him talented musicians to release this excellent album with Defkalion Dimos, behind the drumkit, Steve Lado on the guitar and…the one and only Daniels Heiman on vocals(Lost Horizon, Heed and plenty other projects)!

Sailing towards new horizons

Like many adventures, the story of Towers Of Gold starts with a ruthless band of adventurers meeting a strange old man in a tavern, then embarking on a quest towards a mystical location only the bravest can reach, with storms, betrayal and death: it has all the elements of an epic tale.

And epic is the word, after a nice little acoustic introduction, the first song “The Flame Rekindled (Lurid Lights And Drunken Revelry)” will instantly transport you to the sides of these reckless adventurers. The tempo, the riffs and most importantly the vocals, everything is made to inspire awe. Sacred Outcry, certainly made good use of Heiman’s range.”The Voyage” continues in the same vein as the first song, with a chorus so high-pitched yet perfectly balanced. Throughout the album, the guitars and bass lines are just flowing. In this album, perhaps those nostalgic of Lost Horizon will find the album they’ve been waiting for. And perhaps will notice the nod to Heiman’s previous band with the song “Into The Storm (Beyond Lost Horizon),” which funnily enough reminds more of Heed than Lost Horizon.

Despite their ambitious concept album, Sacred Outcry deftly avoided the pitfalls of the exercise and kept the album relatively short and to the point: no lukewarm fill-in songs, they kept only the essentials. The story takes a darker turn at the end with “Towers Of Gold (Tempus Edax Rerum).” The song closes the circle with yet another epic masterpiece, echoing the opening title.

Final Thoughts

Impeccable composition and musicianship, originality, inspiration and tribute to the classics, Towers Of Gold is the Epic Power Metal album of the year! A bridge between their past album and Lost Horizon, this album is a must-have. The only thing left to do is to hope the band will soon embark on their own quest and tour in as many countries as possible!
