Udo Dirkschneider has done a very cool thing and recreated the classic Accept album Balls to the Wall to celebrate it’s 40th anniversary with the help of some excellent friends, and it’s pretty damn amazing. Let’s start with Joakim Broden of Sabaton’s duet on the opener “Balls to the Wall”; what a great remake with a darker vocal style. The music is very faithful to the original recording, with precision heavy guitars, bass and drums punching hard, and great vocal duets.

Saxon’s Biff Byford does a great “London Leather Boys”, and the list goes on with Mille Petrozza of Kreator fame, Nils Molin of Dynazty, and more. We’re just getting warmed up when Michael Kiske of Helloween legend deliver’s a knockout performance on “Losing More Than You’ve Ever Had” with his soulful clean vocal contrasting sweetly with Udo’s more guttural approach.

Every collaboration on the album brings a fresh take on songs that will remain forever classic, as this reworking proves the timelessness they hold. To be sure, Dirkschneider – Balls To The Wall RELOADED is a love letter to the power of heavy metal, now and then, and something very special.

Udo Dirkschneider

One of those legendary voices that’s so unique it will never be duplicated, Dirkschneider continues to show how at any age his voice and drive are unmatched. On why he decided to remake such a classic piece of heavy metal history, Udo states:

“This reinterpretation of Balls To The Wall not only makes the original songs shine anew but also underscores the album’s timeless relevance and influence on the metal scene. At the same time, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary attempt to revive an untouchable work. Instead, it’s a celebration of the legacy of Balls To The Wall, with the blessing and enthusiasm of many significant voices in the genre. The result is a tribute to the history of heavy metal and proof of how enduring and inspiring this album remains, even four decades later.”

Final Notes

Dirkschneider – Balls To The Wall RELOADED is not just a simple revamping of old material, it’s a beautiful rendition of songs we all know and love. From the power of Nils Molin of Dynazty on “Head over Heels”, to the intensity of Tim “Ripper” Owens on “Guardian Of The Night”, to the amazing Dee Snider of twisted Sister adding his own timeless voice to “Losers and Winners”, and the sweet harmonies of Doro Pesch on “Winter Dreams”, this album is full of incredible performances.

Dirkshneider’s voice hasn’t lost a step in over 40 years, and some would say it’s improved. Do yourself a huge favor, and pick up a copy of Dirkschneider – Balls To The Wall RELOADED. You’ll be glad you did.
