User Review
( votes)Melodic metal powerhouse Dynazty has just released their 9th studio album: Dynazty – Game of Faces on Nuclear Blast Records, and it’s a strong follow-up to 2022’s Final Advent. Formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2007, Dynazty has become a heavy hitter since their gold selling album in 2020 The Dark Delight put them firmly on the charts. The band has been hitting the stage with Sabaton, Powerwolf, Battle Beast, Pain and Kissin Dynamite to name a few, and proving that they are one of the top acts in Europe.
Lyrics
From watchin the lyric video, we have a sample from the title track:
“Game of Faces”
Show to me you can see, nothing is able
Like infatuation so inherently fatal
Who am I? Who are you?
Truth is a riddle
Sanity intrinsically get caught in the middle
Under the mask is another face
Twisted in truth is the answer you chase
Deep in duality, two faced and too seductive
Lie with morality and you’ll soon be corrupted
Don’t dream of fairytales, it will lead to pain
Don’t wish for miracles, it is all in vain
Don’t ever fall in love with love again
The singer is of course warning us of the dangers of loving, being lied to, being hurt, and being vulnerable. A situation that resounds with just about every human being on the planet, so it’s always good to have something people connect to, and it’s a bonus when it has a nice rhyme as well as they do here.
Production
Game of Faces was produced by Dynazty themselves and mixed by Swedish pioneer Jens Bogren, and sounds as slick and pro as they get. Powerful vocals dominate, with rich, searing guitars over a heavy rhythm section. The almost techno layer of keys add that specialness to the trademark Dynazty sound that they have been cultivating over the last several records.
Final Notes
DYNAZTY – Game of Faces is a solid release, and a strong follow up to the last record. The songs are very energetic, with a driving beat that makes you want to power walk, work out, or even dance. As with all Dynazty albums, vocalist Nils Molin is excellent, and getting better if that’s possible. For fans of melodic metal with a lot of crunch, blazing solos, and techno vibe at times, then Dynazty – Game of Faces is for you.
