Hazzerd are a Canadian thrash metal band formed by drummer and lead vocalist Dylan Westendorp, and former guitarist Brendan Malycky in Calgary, Alberta. Inspired by ’80s thrash metal legends such as Overkill, Metallica, and Megadeth, they released their debut studio album, Misleading Evil, in 2017 through World War Now Records. In 2020, they released their second studio album, Delirium, through their current label, M-Theory Audio. The album was very well-received, even earning praise from Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine. Earlier in 2024, Hazzerd contributed two songs, “Skin Peeler” and “Stella’s Scream,” for author Julie Hiner’s horror book project titled, Thrash Track, which is part of her Detective Mahoney series.
Lana Teramae of Metal Express Radio had a chat with lead guitarist Toryin Schadlich about Hazzerd’s brand new studio album, The 3rd Dimension, which will be released on January 17, 2025 through M-Theory Audio. They also talked about Schadlich’s musical inspirations, the simple, yet hilarious concept behind their “ThArSh TiLl DeTh” music video, the connection between heavy metal and the horror genre, and much more!
