There is a rock/metal band that receives far too little accolades and respect. That band is Sweet (not the bunch of dudes parading as Sweet in the states that have no connection to the original band), and with over 55 million records sold and 34 #1 chart positions worldwide, they deserve the respect and attention. The man who holds the legacy together is guitarist Andy Scott, who continues to create hard hitting Rock to this day. The band has a brand new album from Metalville records titled Full Circle, and according to the press release, it could be the band’s last studio album.

The Album

The band began writing songs for the album back in pre-pandemic 2019, but shelved the project to instead create Isolation Boulevard: an album of classic Sweet songs re-recorded with a new spin by the current lineup. With some success on that album, and the pandemic behind them, Sweet got back to work on Full Circle with producers Andy and Tom Cory at the helm. With 11 new songs, Sweet have delivered a strong Hard Rock album, with some sing along moments like “Destination Hannover”, which is taking off in football arenas throughout Germany already.

Final Notes

Andy Scott is a musical warrior, who keeps at it year after year to give fans great music, and to keep The Sweet alive and in the hearts of music fans around the world. Full Circle is a good album, with some catchy songs like “Circus” and “Changes”. The production is excellent, the vocal harmonies are well crafted and executed. Andy Scott has created a new identity for Sweet, that doesn’t necessarily remind listeners of the original band, but it does have some fine musical moments that AOR and Melodic Metal fans will find worth checking out.

He had his first interview for the Portland, Oregon publication The Rock Rag with guitarist Paul Gilbert in his Racer X days. Then he was honored to get to have drinks, and talk for an hour with the legendary Dan McCafferty of Nazareth for his second interview. In 2013, he spent an amazing hour talking to Andi Deris of Helloween, which was the high point of his heavy metal journalism.   In the year 2001, he formed Man in Black Music Publishing. They released recordings by several local bands, and in the spirit of the old Metal Massacre compilations, he created a 2-album series called The Defenders of Metal. The albums featured classic styled Metal bands from all around the world, with bands from Australia to England, and from Argentina to Russia. Currently, he is the producer/creator/vocalist of the Metal band The Black Tuesdays.
