When thinking of classic Heavy Metal guitarists who’ve had a huge hand in defining the genre during the 80s, Ross “The Boss” Freidman is one that immediately comes to mind. From either his work on the first six Manowar classic albums, to his Proto-Punk band The Dictators back in 1972, Ross The Boss has cemented his place in music history. From 2006 on, Ross “The Boss” Friedman has been delivering blistering Heavy Metal with his solo band Ross The Boss, and this year he’s releasing a special vinyl only album of the greatest hits off of those records, hand picked by Ross himself.

Vinyl Only Release

To commemorate 15 years of great music from the Ross The Boss Band, AFM Records asked Ross “The Boss” Freidman to hand pick three songs from each of the four albums New Metal Leader, Hailstorm, By Blood Sworn, and Born Of Fire for a very special vinyl only release. Ross “The Boss” Freidman on his song writing process:

“There’s not much difference in how I approach a solo album compared to my work with Manowar. It used to be just Joey [DeMaio] and I working on the songs – recording demos, like we do now. Then we’d present them in the studio and go from there. It’s basically the same process of songwriting, adding parts or taking parts away. I think this time it was just more straightforward and as a result, more efficient.”

Final Notes

Ross The Boss – Legacy of Blood, Fire & Steel is a great collection of the highlights from the band’s four great albums, so the listener can’t go wrong with this release. The album cover was co-designed by singer Marc Lopes, and looks fantastic in the full size vinyl format. If you collect vinyl, you can’t go wrong with this album, as not only does it sound great, but will also look fantastic on your wall.
