User Review
( vote)Greek Gothic Heavy Metal band Elysion has completed their third album for Massacre Records titled Bring Out Your Dead, and it’s a departure from Gothic or Symphonic Metal, with much more of a Melodic Metal feel to it. The album lyrically takes us on a journey from being in a dark place, to striving to escape, and become free in spirit and mind. The band was definitely influenced by the effects of the pandemic, and how society almost shut down.
About the Album
Bring Out Your Dead is a slickly produced collection of songs that do have more of an Evanescence feel than the bands previous works. Following the current trend of Heavy Metal bands that have a female front person, they mix heavy guitars and keyboards with an almost Pop Music element where the vocals are concerned, to good effect. 10 tracks at just over 43 minutes is about a perfect running time, and keeps the listener involved and enjoying the finely crafted songs from start to finish.
Final Notes
Elysion – Bring Out Your Dead is not groundbreaking in any way, but does an album have to be? Not for this reviewer, as long as the songs are catchy, well performed and recorded, and leave you wanting to give it another spin. Let’s face it, almost everything has been done already, so the questions are: does it keep me involved? Yes. Do I want to change out the record while listening to it? No, as it gets better with every listen. The bottom line is that Elysion is improving their craft with each album, and it really shows on Bring Out Your Dead. If you’re into female fronted Heavy Metal, with lots of big melodies, then this album definitely deserves a spin.
