User Review
( votes)Wise Blood Records has just released a sampler of two bands on the same album with four songs by Dungeon Crawl and three by Throne of Iron, with the material based on games such as Dungeons & Dragon and Skyrim. Both bands are from the U.S.A., with Dungeon Crawl based out of San Francisco, California and Throne of Iron hailing from Indiana. The resulting release comes off as an EP, but feels a bit like a demo recording as a whole.
About the Album
Dungeon Crawl starts off the record with their four songs that are pretty solid Thrash Metal, and are the best songs on the album. The recordings are well executed and the songs, while not groundbreaking are a pretty good listen.
Then we get to the three songs by Throne of Iron, and wonder why the two bands are on the same record. Unfortunately for Throne of Iron, the recordings sound amateurish, and the songs uninspired. The drums are barely listenable, and the mix leaves a lot to be desired.
Final Notes
If the album were just an EP of Dungeon Crawl, it would have been much more successful for this reviewer. The addition of Throne of Iron’s low budget recordings bring down the whole release. The video above contains all of the songs on the record, so judge for yourself. Unfortunately for this reviewer, the release as a whole leaves the listener wanting more, and less at the same time.
