( votes)Heavy Southern Rock – European Style
Closing in on 10 years together, Europe’s answer to Black Label Society, The Dead Daisies and Black Stone Cherry has released their 3rd album titled Bones & Ashes on Rock Of Angels Records. Devil’s Train has put together a slick, powerful new record that punches you in the face with gritty hard rock energy.
Strong Effort From Southern Rock Super Group
Singer and band master-mind RD Liapakis (Mystic Prophecy/Steel Prophet) joined forces with drum monster Jörg Michael (ex- Saxon/Stratovarius/Axel Rudi Pell/Running Wild…), low-end legend Jens Becker (Grave Digger/ex-Running Wild/ex-X-Wild) and six-string wizard Dan Baune (Lost Sanctuary/ex-Monument) to create Devil’s Train, and can easily be dubbed a super group. Bones & Ashes shows that they have the chops, the sound and the where-with-all to stand up to any Southern Rock/Metal band out there.
Final Notes
Devil’s Train – Ashes & Bones offers us 11 new originals and a cover of Cameo’s classic dance tune “Word Up” (which is an improvement over the Korn remake). The guitars are super crunchy, with amazing solos throughout. The drums and bass are as solid as a rock, and keep the album kicking hard from start to finish. The adept vocals of R.D. Liapakis are a perfect fit for the gritty Southern Rock style, yet modern in interpretation. The production is stellar, and it’s a great listen. With all of the catchy hooks and fun songs, Bones & Ashes is a really fun listen, and for any Hard Rock fans a great addition to your music collection.
