As the saying goes, “third time is a charm”, well it certainly was. After two cancelled show due to Covid, Baroness made their way back to the stage in Salt Lake City at the The State Room on March 31st, 2022.
The band’s current incarnation, of guitarist John Baizley, guitarist Gina Gleason, bassist Nick Jost, and drummer Sebastian Thomson, performed a two set night in which the played songs voted on by ticket holders for their first tour since the start of the pandemic, which they have dubbed Your Baroness. See setlist below.
Their live sound is big and powerful, which I don’t think is captured on their albums, but that’s just this reviewers opinion. Opening the show with the songs “Ogeechee Hymnal,” “Take My Bones Away” and “Rays On Pinion” really set the mood for the night. You could tell they were glad to be back on stage doing what they love to do.
We were also treated to a couple acoustic versions of “CBD Angels” and “I’d Do Anything” in-between sets, which showcased the bands versatility and musical talent. Baroness’ U.S. tour continues through May, 2022, before heading over to Europe. Each show will be unique as fan favorites will be different from city to city.
This was a great show, I was very impressed with their live performance. Highly recommend you get your tickets early for a show near you.
I first learned about Baroness and their new guitarist Gina Gleason in Guitar World. I was intrigued and since then Baroness has become one of my favorite bands. I think Gina Gleason is an amazing player and performer.
Hey Peter, Gina was fantastic. She fit in so well with the band and the music.
