Comedic metal band Nekrogoblikon are set to release their sixth studio album The Fundamental of Slimes and Humors on April first. The band’s guitarist took the time to talk with Metal Express Radio about the band’s upcoming album, the busy touring schedule for the band this summer, touring with a variety of bands, and more. Check out the chat below!
Metal Express Radio: The band’s new album The Fundamental of Slimes and Humors is set to be released on April 1st, what can you tell fans about the upcoming album?
Alereza: If you’re a fan of anything we’ve put out in the last ten years I think this is going to be your favorite release from us. It’s overall both the heaviest and catchiest album we’ve done yet, while still maintaining 100% of the eccentricity we’ve been known for.
MER: How was the writing and recording process having this being the band’s sixth album?
Alereza: While usually we have very few if any songs that didn’t make the cut for the album, this time around Nicky wrote over 30 songs and we chose the absolute best. As for the recording process, this time we recorded guitars and vocals as each song got completed instead of all at once, and then recorded all of the drums at the very end (we have traditionally recorded drums first on past albums.)
MER: The band recently released a song off the album ‘This Is It,” what kind of feedback have you received?
Alereza: The feedback has been tremendous, possibly the best reception to a new song we’ve ever had! We’re very grateful.
MER: Do you feel like ‘This Is It” gives fans a good idea on what to expect from the full length?
Alereza: It’s hard to choose any one song that can represent the album as a whole, and each song has very much has its own distinct identity, which is intentional. I would say perhaps “Right Now” (the first single we released back in November) might be the best representation of the album as a whole solely due to how much variation exists within the song.
MER: What do you see as far as plans for the band after the album release?
Alereza: We’ll be embarking on a headlining US tour in June and then will be heading overseas in July to play a mix of festival dates and headlining shows. Gonna be a busy Summer!
MER: How has the band been able to keep and touch and stay busy the past couple of years?
Alereza: Between making albums, producing content with John Goblikon, and touring, it’s rare that there isn’t something that’s keeping us busy
MER: How has it been to be able to tour with a variety of bands having played the Vans Warped tour, touring with Limp Bizkit just to name a few?
Alereza: It’s been great to not only have toured with such legendary acts, but also to have been able to play with such a variety of different styles of bands just due to the nature of being in a band that doesn’t quite fit into any sub-genre mold.
MER: Is there anyone that you hope to tour with that you haven’t yet?
Alereza: No one in particular, but we’re always excited to meet and tour with new people!
MER: Having played festivals such as Bloodstock and Download, how is it playing an open air festival versus a club?
Alereza: Other than the obvious differences, the catering/food at festivals is astronomically better!
MER: Out of six albums from the band, what is one you would suggest to a new fan and why?
Alereza: The Fundamental Slimes and Humours without a doubt. To me this album best defines Nekrogoblikon and what Nicky and I set out to achieve musically since the beginning.
