( vote)30 Years of Metal from Greece
Rockshots Records has released an album from the band Thirty Fates – Circus Black. The album is a nine track anniversary record to celebrate the trio consisting of brothers Elias (ex-Oblivion, ex-Black Fate) and Nikos Tzintzilonis (ex-Black Fate, X-Vital, ex-Gallows Tree) and Stelios Papakostas (ex-Black Fate) 30 years in heavy metal as friends and bandmates. Circus Black is nine tracks of Classic Melodic Heavy Metal, with four tracks from their 1991 demo, two unreleased tracks from the ’80s, and three tracks from Black Fate’s 2001’s rare ep along with a brand-new song featuring Tim “Ripper” Owens.
From The Past To The Present
The band has taken material spanning their entire career together and rerecorded everything, bringing the past back to life with renewed energy and drive. Back in 1988, they started out named Metal Invaders, which was soon changed to Black Fate. The band explains how Circus Black came to be: “It came out spontaneously when we met each other five years ago, rehearsing the old stuff, reminiscing the good old times. Then we decided to re-record our first demo and some spare old songs, as we had all the efforts for making a record come to life.” Add to that a brand new song with guest vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens titled “Be Free”, and you have a solid 10 tracks that showcase the skills of these talented musicians.
Final Notes
The production is great, with the band taking older material and breathing new life into it. If you love Classic Heavy Metal in the vein of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensrÿche, Dio, and Ozzy Osbourne, you’ll surely find something to sink your teeth into with Thirty Fates – Circus Black. Definitely worth checking out, and adding to your metal collection.
