Diamonds In The Rough
Axel Rudi Pell’s 18th studio album Sign of the Times [review] was released in 2020. Pell considered putting out new material this year, but he decided to hold off. His thoughts on the matter were, why put out a new album when you can’t tour on it? It has been 14 years since ARP released their first covers album Diamonds Unlocked. Pell felt that 2021 was the right time to revisit that venture with a sequel, Diamonds Unlocked II [review]. I had the chance to speak with guitarist Axel Rudi Pell shortly after the album’s release.
