Classic Heavy Metal

Those who follow musical legends Ritchie Blackmore and Michael Schenker will be more than familiar with the work of veteran Scottish vocalist Doogie White, with his excellent melodic style and range. Long Shadows Dawn is the debut album album by Doogie White and Swedish guitarist Emil Norberg of Persuader, showcasing the talents of both while delivering a Classic Heavy Metal album in the style of Rainbow, Deep Purple, MSG, etc..

About the Album

Scottish singer Doogie White first came to prominence when he was asked to audition for the legendary Rainbow, subsequently joining the band in 1994 and releasing the album “Stranger In Us All”.  Serafino Perugino, President of Frontiers Records had a vision of hearing Doogie sing songs in the style of Rainbow, and pairing him with Emil, a lifelong Rainbow fan, seemed only logical. Isle of Wrath captures the feel and the essence of that last Rainbow album quite well by keeping melodies king in every song, having that classic sound of heavy guitar/keyboards, and sticking to the tried and true formulae laid down in the glorious 80s.

Final Notes

With 11 songs coming in at just over 53 minutes, Long Shadows Dawn has given us a great first effort that sounds better and stronger with every listen. The Hard Rock/Heavy Metal sound is timeless, and with Doogie White singing it’s like a bit of time travel back to another era when hair was long, black leather was in, and Heavy Metal had a melody. Classic Metal fans definitely need to pick up a copy of Isle of Wrath for their collection.
