( votes)Neo-classical Power Metal Remastered
Stormwind is the brain-child of guitarist and mastermind Thomas Wolf, and fans were given 6 full length albums plus a live record. The band has not been active since 2003, but thanks to Black Lodge Records we are getting some of these great albums remastered. Rising Symphony was the final album, and shows a lot of maturity and growth from where they started. Thomas Wolf plays the guitars, directs the symphony and also does some backing vocals. The band has some all-star players in Andreas Olsson (Rob Rock, Royal Hunt, ex-7days) on the bass, David Wallin (Blacksmith, HammerFall, Meduza) playing drums, Kaspar Dahlqvist (Shadowquest) on piano and keyboards, and Thomas Vikström (Dark Illusion, Therion, ex-Candlemass) on the vocals.
What’s New
The remaster of Rising Symphony is in essence the same album as the original with the exception of the last track on the album. This release has a ripping, fast-paced song called “Wings of Tomorrow” replacing the instrumental “Venezia”, and adding a couple of minutes to the running time. The remaster sounds great, and gives fans a chance to revisit a great album with the bonus of a new track.
Final Notes
This album is a classic Neo-classical Power Metal release that is definitely worth more than a second listen. Thomas Wolf created a fantastic band that has been missed, and with the rerelease of Rising Symphony, fans get to relive a great album. For those who missed this great Swedish band, this gives the chance to discover a wealth of great music that more than belongs in your album collection.
