Still Alive is the third record from Danish Rock band Grumpynaotrs. The current lineup features Christian Nørgaard, guitar, Jakob Øelund, double bass, Emil Øelund, guitar and vocals, and Per Fisker, drums. The members come from diverse musical backgrounds and that makes for an interesting mix.

The Grumpynators have two members from a Rockabilly background. Their music is very uptempo, clearly demonstrating that influence. The first two tracks, “Still Alive” and “Going Away For Good” have a distinct Rockabilly flavor. Track three, “Blood And Bones”, takes a sharp turn into Hard Rock territory. There is a clear Motorhead influence on Grumpynators less Rockabillish material. The songs are still melodic and upbeat, but the flavor is different. “Yesterday” is another Hard Rocker that delivers. “Sweet Psycho Sister” is one of the strongest tracks on the record. The stylistic differences work their way through each of the 10 tracks on Still Alive. It makes for an interesting and enjoyable listening experience.

The production is strong on Still Alive. The songs are well mixed, the instruments are clear and sound good. The vocals and harmonies are rich and full. The lead guitar is a little underwhelming at points, but overall it’s a well-mixed and good sounding record.

Still Alive is a worthwhile listen for fans of Grumpynators previous work, and fans of Melodic Rock, Hard Rock, and Rockabilly.

Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
